This Privacy Policy describes how Daedalus Media ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you use our mobile application, Lookie (the "App"), available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and the services related to it.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We only collect data that is strictly necessary for the core functionality of the App.
1. Information We Collect
Location Data (Crucial for App Functionality)
We collect your device's precise or approximate location information only with your explicit permission when you use the App.
- Type of Data Collected: GPS, Wi-Fi, and cellular network information to determine your current location.
- Purpose of Collection: This data is essential to provide location-based features, specifically to identify places, points of interest, and custom walking routes near you, as requested by the App's functions. During active tour navigation, location is also used to trigger arrival alerts and dwell timers.
Account & Authentication Data
When you sign in using Apple Sign-In, Google Sign-In, or email authentication, your account records and profile identifiers are securely managed via Firebase Authentication to verify your identity and save your tour preferences across devices.
2. How We Use and Share Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following specific purposes:
Location Data Sharing with Google Places
The core function of the App is to show you nearby information. To fulfill your request to find nearby places, we share your location coordinates with Google's platform services, specifically the Google Places API/SDK.
- Use: Your device's precise location is used exclusively to query the Google Places API/SDK to retrieve a list of relevant local businesses, landmarks, or points of interest relative to your current position.
- Sharing: Your location coordinates are securely transmitted to Google's servers as part of the API request. We do not store your precise location on our servers after the nearby search results are delivered. The use of this data by Google is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
Publicly Shared Content (Tours)
- Use and Ownership: When you explicitly create and share a "Tour" publicly through the App, you are submitting user-generated content for public display. You grant Daedalus Media (the operator of the Lookie App) a perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, and royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute this content.
- Data Retention: This publicly shared content (the Tour data itself, excluding your personal account identifier once deleted) is considered a contribution to the Lookie platform and may be retained indefinitely, regardless of your account status.
3. Data Retention and Account Deletion
Account Deletion Process
You have the right to request the complete deletion of your Lookie account and all associated personal data. Upon receiving a valid request, we will permanently delete your user record from Firebase Authentication and erase all personal information and non-public data (like your profile details, session history, and unsaved drafts) stored across our servers.
Please note that all tours and related data you have explicitly created and shared publicly through the Lookie app will not be automatically deleted. By creating and sharing tours publicly, you acknowledge that this content becomes the property of Daedalus Media and continues to be shared openly as per the terms agreed when using the service. This non-personal, publicly shared tour data is retained for the integrity and continuity of the platform.

4. Security Measures
We retain your non-personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. We take reasonable measures, including technical and administrative safeguards, to protect the information collected via the App from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Since we collect your precise location, you always have control over this data:
Location Permissions: You can withdraw your consent for us to access your location at any time by adjusting the permissions in your device's operating system settings. Note that disabling location access will prevent the App's core functionality (finding nearby places and routing tours) from working.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the effective date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
